Owner’s hands-on review ★★★★☆

Like most Shelly products, fantastic.

I have a handful of Shelly devices and love most of them, and these are no exception. It’s a dimmer that connects over wifi and I’ve only had a couple drop-offs, and an update since has made them not disconnect in ~5 months so I think that issue is resolved (Fingers crossed this review doesn’t jinx it).

Some of my LED bulbs only activate at ~40% brightness, and I think most of the settings to adjust “0%” to the point where your bulbs activate is only available via the shelly app, which to me is not a big deal but might be annoying to someone else, which drops them from a perfect score to a 4/5 for me.

Quick verdict

The Plus Wall Dimmer is Shelly's in-wall Wi-Fi dimmer, and like other Shelly Plus gear it runs fully local through the native Home Assistant integration with no cloud account. You need a neutral and a four-wire install, and it lives on Wi-Fi rather than a mesh, but it gives you local smart dimming without a coordinator.

Standout: In-wall Wi-Fi dimmer with full local control through the native Home Assistant Shelly integration, no hub needed.

Local control facts

Home Assistant: shelly integration, Local Push, Platinum on the quality scale (home-assistant.io, checked Oct 10, 2026)

Why it stands out

in-wall Wi-Fi dimmer with full local control via the native Home Assistant Shelly integration
local web interface works without internet or Shelly Cloud
acts as a Wi-Fi range extender and Bluetooth gateway for Shelly BLU devices

Reasons to hesitate

requires a neutral wire and a four-wire install
Wi-Fi rather than a mesh protocol, so it adds to your 2.4GHz device count
dimmable LED load limit is lower than the incandescent rating, so check your bulbs

Best for

Home Assistant users who want a local Wi-Fi in-wall dimmer without a Zigbee or Z-Wave coordinator
rooms where you want both smart dimming and a working physical paddle

Avoid if

your switch box has no neutral wire
you prefer to keep lighting on a Zigbee or Z-Wave mesh rather than Wi-Fi

Privacy and local-control notes

Wi-Fi dimmer with a local web interface and local API. The native Home Assistant Shelly integration controls it locally with no Shelly Cloud account required.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: Shelly (native / local).
