I’m OneDroidyHome, the owner of Local Smart Home Guide. I run Home Assistant in my own home, and one reason I started this site was that I couldn’t find a single source that brought together the local compatibility information I wanted.

I wanted somewhere to check which devices work locally, what hardware and integrations they need, and which features still depend on a cloud service. This site is my effort to bring that information together. If it’s useful to me, I hope it’s useful to others.

AI is heavily used for research here. It helps gather and compare information from manufacturer documentation, Home Assistant integration documentation and relevant community resources. AI also assists with drafting, updates and technical maintenance.

I contribute my own writing and experience too. I’ve written articles myself, and many reviews come directly from my input about equipment I use. I set the editorial direction and review all content over time, including calling out mistakes and correcting recommendations. That review continues after publication, so some pages may be published before I have personally reviewed them.

Some equipment covered here is part of my own setup, including an Everything Presence One in my living room and an Aqara FP1E in my dining room. I have not personally tested every product on the site. Unless a page explicitly describes my experience with a device, treat its recommendation as researched guidance rather than a hands-on review.

My editorial standard is straightforward: recommendations should fit the reader’s task, factual claims should have supporting evidence, and personal experience must never be invented. Product variants, cloud requirements, additional hardware and setup limitations all belong in the buying decision.
