The keypad saves it from a lower rating

I give the Aqara U300 3.5/5. Remote control is often slow in my setup, and having the keypad as a backup saves it from being a 2.5/5.

I use a button to unlock it, with the room normally locked to keep my toddler from getting in. The unlock command can take upwards of 10 seconds, which makes that setup frustrating.

It could be my Matter network; I haven’t established whether the delay comes from the lock or my setup. Either way, I can’t strongly recommend it based on my experience.

Quick verdict

The U300 goes all-in. It replaces your entire door lock and handle. You get the same Matter-over-Thread local control and Apple Home Key as the U200, but in a full-replacement form factor. Installation is more work than a retrofit, and fingerprint data still does not reach HA. Best for new builds or anyone ready to swap out their whole lock set.
