It just works; price is the only downside

I give the Aqara FP300 the same 4.5/5 as my Aqara FP1E. It just works, and price is the only downside for me. Alongside my Everything Presence One, they’re tied as my highest-rated presence sensors.

Quick verdict

The FP300 combines battery-powered presence detection with light, temperature and humidity sensing. Choose Matter over Thread for its supported readings and settings, or Zigbee2MQTT when you need additional tuning controls. Check ZHA handler support before choosing that route.

Privacy and local-control notes

Local sensor communication through Matter over Thread or Zigbee, with no camera or audio. Direct Matter needs a Thread border router; direct Zigbee2MQTT needs a compatible Zigbee coordinator and MQTT broker. Neither direct route requires an Aqara hub. Changing from Thread to Zigbee uses Aqara Home during setup.
