Shelly Wave 1PM in-wall relay
Owner’s hands-on review ★★★★★

It's a Shelly device, I have the Z-Wave and Wifi versions

I love these. Absolutely fantastic. Some of the most reliable devices in my house, both Z-Wave and Wifi. Is power monitoring required for a light switch? No, but I like having it anyway.

Quick verdict

The Wave 1PM is a single-channel Z-Wave relay with power metering that runs fully local through Z-Wave JS in Home Assistant. It is the single-circuit sibling to the Wave 2PM, with Z-Wave Long Range support for better reach to the controller. A solid behind-the-switch module if you are on Z-Wave and want energy data per circuit.

Standout: Single-channel Z-Wave relay with power metering and Z-Wave Long Range support, fully local via Z-Wave JS.

Local control facts

  • Home Assistant: zwave_js integration, Local Push (home-assistant.io, checked Sep 10, 2026)

Why it stands out

  • single-channel Z-Wave relay with built-in power metering
  • fully local through Z-Wave JS, no WiFi or cloud needed
  • supports Z-Wave Long Range for extended range to the controller

Reasons to hesitate

  • requires a Z-Wave controller on your Home Assistant setup
  • single channel only, unlike the dual-channel Wave 2PM
  • no Matter or direct voice assistant integration without Home Assistant in the middle

Best for

  • Home Assistant users adding local switching plus energy monitoring to a single circuit
  • Z-Wave network builders who want per-device power data behind a switch

Avoid if

  • you need two channels, where the Wave 2PM fits better
  • you do not have or want a Z-Wave controller

Privacy and local-control notes

Fully local via Z-Wave. No cloud or internet needed. Power monitoring data stays on your network.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: Z-Wave JS.
