Shelly 2PM Gen4, a hardwired two-channel relay module with power metering

Quick verdict

The Shelly 2PM Gen4 is the current version of Shelly's dual-channel metered relay and the part that replaces the discontinued Shelly Plus 2PM - at $39.99 it is cheaper than the Plus 2PM was. It keeps what made the older module useful: two independently switched channels with real per-channel metering, a blinds mode for roller shutters, and a local RPC API plus MQTT that Home Assistant reads through the official integration with no cloud account. New in this generation is the radio choice: it ships Matter-certified over Wi-Fi and five presses of the device button move it to Zigbee 3.0, one profile at a time. Two things to keep straight before wiring: the channels are 10 A each but 16 A together, and the outputs are switched live, not dry contacts. I haven't run this one; the notes come from Shelly's spec sheet, the Home Assistant integration docs and what other owners report.

Standout: Two independently metered relay channels plus a blinds mode in one in-wall module, joining Home Assistant over Wi-Fi, Zigbee or Matter.

Local control facts

  • Home Assistant: shelly integration, Local Push, Platinum on the quality scale (home-assistant.io, checked Sep 10, 2026)

Why it stands out

  • two independent channels with per-channel voltage, current, power and energy metering in one module
  • Venetian blinds mode for motorised blinds and roller shutters as well as plain dual-relay mode
  • three local paths into Home Assistant: the official Shelly integration over Wi-Fi, ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT in Zigbee mode, or Matter
  • acts as a Zigbee range extender in the Zigbee profile and as a Bluetooth gateway for Shelly BLU devices

Reasons to hesitate

  • one radio profile at a time: it ships in the Matter-over-Wi-Fi profile and five presses of the device button switch it to Zigbee, which takes Wi-Fi and Matter away
  • the outputs are switched live rather than potential-free, so it is not the part for low-voltage dry-contact wiring - the Shelly Pro 2 is the two-channel potential-free model
  • 10 A per channel and 16 A total, so both channels cannot be loaded to their individual rating at once
  • two circuits share one module, so a failure takes out both

Best for

  • controlling and metering two circuits from a single wall box
  • motorised blinds and roller shutters that should keep working from the existing wall control
  • Home Assistant users who want per-circuit energy data without a panel meter

Avoid if

  • you need potential-free contacts for low-voltage loads such as 24 V irrigation valves
  • you want each circuit on its own module for redundancy
  • you expect Wi-Fi and Zigbee to run at the same time on one device
  • you are not comfortable working with mains wiring

Privacy and local-control notes

Local in every profile it can run: the Wi-Fi firmware has a built-in web interface, an RPC API and MQTT with no Shelly account required, Zigbee mode talks only to your own coordinator, and Matter is local by design. Energy readings stay on your network unless you opt in to Shelly cloud.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: Shelly (official core integration, Local Push) over Wi-Fi with the local RPC API or MQTT; ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT when switched to the Zigbee profile; Matter integration in the default Matter profile.

Buying reality check

Price notes: Shelly's own US store listed the UL-certified SKU at $39.99 and in stock on 2026-09-08, with a 2-pack at $78.38 and a 4-pack at $151.96. Note the inversion: that is less than the $54.99 the superseded Plus 2PM listed at, so the current part is also the cheaper one.

One verified price read so far: $39.99 at shelly-us on Sep 8, 2026.

What changed for this product

  1. · Brief

Shelly at IFA 2026: ThreadLink, a Matter wall panel, and a EUR 39.90 camera

Shelly's IFA 2026 announcements: ThreadLink turns the Gen4 Thread radio into a full IP network, firmware 2.8.0 makes the Wall Display a Matter controller, and a EUR 39.90 camera does RTSP. What is local, what is not.

  2. · Added

Shelly 1 Gen4 and 2PM Gen4 now have product pages

The guides have named these two as the parts to buy since Shelly discontinued the Gen2 Plus line, but neither had a page, so the only clickable relay link in those sentences still went to the superseded Plus model. Both now have pages with dated sources: the Shelly 1 Gen4 (potential-free contacts, no metering, $27.99 for the UL-certified US SKU) and the Shelly 2PM Gen4 (two metered channels, 10 A each and 16 A total, $39.99 - less than the Plus 2PM cost). Each ships in a Matter-over-Wi-Fi profile and switches to Zigbee with five presses of the device button, one radio at a time. I have run neither, and both pages say so.
