SONOFF MINI Extreme R4 (Matter) smart switch - One of the smallest Matter-compatible smart relays - fits where others can't

Quick verdict

The SONOFF MINI R4 Matter edition packs Matter support into an absurdly small package. It hides behind your existing switch and gives you local control through Home Assistant, Apple Home, Google Home, or Alexa - all without cloud. The size is the real selling point: it fits in switch boxes where most competitors simply won't.

Standout: One of the smallest Matter-compatible smart relays - fits where others can't.

Why it stands out

extremely compact - fits in the tightest switch boxes
Matter support for fully local cross-platform control
dual neutral terminals make wiring two neutrals easy without extra connectors

Reasons to hesitate

no dimming - on/off relay only
Wi-Fi based, so no mesh networking benefits
tiny terminal screws can be fiddly to wire

Best for

tight switch boxes where other relays won't fit
Matter-first setups wanting an affordable behind-the-switch relay

Avoid if

you need dimming capability
you're not comfortable with in-wall electrical wiring

Privacy and local-control notes

Matter-native device. When paired via Matter, control is fully local with no cloud dependency. The eWeLink app uses cloud, but Matter bypasses it entirely.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: matter.
