Philips Hue Go Portable Table Light product image

Quick verdict

The Hue Go is Hue's portable color light. Set it on the patio table for dinner, carry it to the backyard, bring it back inside and drop it on the charger. When it is within range of your Hue Bridge, it behaves like any other Hue light in Home Assistant with full local control. Take it out of range and it falls back to Bluetooth. The color quality is solid and the design is clean. The catch is battery life: at full brightness you get a few hours, so this is an evening-use light, not an all-day solution. At its price, you are paying a steep premium for portability. Worth it if you will actually move it around. Expensive paperweight if it never leaves the shelf.

Standout: Rechargeable portable color light that joins your Hue Zigbee mesh when home and goes standalone on battery.

Why it stands out

  • built-in rechargeable battery lets you take it anywhere, indoors or outdoors
  • connects to your Hue Zigbee mesh when home and works standalone on battery when away
  • full 16 million color and tunable white range in a portable form factor

Reasons to hesitate

  • battery life is limited to a few hours at full brightness, longer at dimmer settings
  • premium price for what is essentially a fancy portable lamp
  • when away from the Zigbee mesh, control is Bluetooth-only with limited range

Best for

  • outdoor dining tables, patios, and anywhere you want temporary color lighting without running cables
  • nightstand or living room accent light that you occasionally move around

Avoid if

  • you want a permanent fixed light. A regular Hue bulb in any lamp is cheaper
  • you need all-day battery life. This is a few hours of use, not a whole weekend

Privacy and local-control notes

Through the Hue Bridge, control is fully local. When unplugged and running on battery, operates via Bluetooth standalone with no cloud. If paired to zigbee2mqtt or ZHA directly, zero cloud involvement.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: native hue integration (via bridge) or zigbee2mqtt / ZHA.

Buying reality check

Price notes: Expensive for what it does. You are paying for the portability and battery. If it will live on a shelf permanently, a regular bulb in a lamp is a fraction of the cost.
