Hubitat Elevation C-8 Pro

Quick verdict

The C-8 Pro is what Hubitat sells now that the plain C-8 is gone: the same Zigbee 3.0 and Z-Wave 800 Long Range radios with external antennas, Matter and Bluetooth on top, and a 2 GHz CPU with 2 GB RAM. Everything runs locally and no subscription is required. There are two versions and the difference matters. The standard Pro at $184.95 has Zigbee; the Thread Special Edition at $249.95 puts a Thread radio in place of the Zigbee radio, so it has no Zigbee at all, and Hubitat's own listing does not say whether it works as a Thread border router for Matter devices. Buy the standard one unless Thread is the specific reason you are shopping. Home Assistant reaches it through the community Maker API integration, which is local but not core. I haven't run this one; the notes come from the spec sheet, the Home Assistant integration docs and what other owners report.

• far fewer integrations and add-ons than Home Assistant, and dashboards are weaker
• the Thread edition is a limited run sold only through hubitat.com, and Hubitat's listing does not spell out whether it acts as a Thread border router for Matter devices

• people who want local Zigbee and Z-Wave automations with the least tinkering
• C-8 or C-7 owners who want the faster hub now that the plain C-8 is gone
• households that want a hub to own the radios and Home Assistant only for the front end

Avoid if

• you want the broadest integration catalogue and add-on ecosystem (run Home Assistant directly instead)
• you are considering the Thread edition but still own Zigbee devices
• you expect an official, core Home Assistant integration

Privacy and local-control notes

Automations run on the hub and Hubitat states that no subscription is needed for ongoing use; cloud backup and remote admin are optional paid extras. The bridge to Home Assistant is LAN-only through Maker API.

Buying reality check

Price notes: Standard C-8 Pro US version $184.95 and the Thread Special Edition $249.95, both read on hubitat.com on 2026-09-06. The two are not the same hub with an extra radio: Hubitat's own listing says the Thread radio replaces the Zigbee radio, so the Thread edition has no built-in Zigbee. UK, EU and AUS/NZ Z-Wave frequency versions of the standard Pro are sold separately.
