Philips Hue Bridge Pro, a square white smart lighting hub

Quick verdict

The Bridge Pro is Hue's higher-capacity bridge: Zigbee to the lights, Ethernet to your network, and a Matter bridge that Home Assistant can pair with. It doesn't add Thread. I haven't run this one; the notes come from Philips Hue's US product page and Matter Survey data.

Standout: Hue's larger bridge, rated for 150+ lights, that bridges Hue's Zigbee lights and accessories into Matter.

Local control facts

Why it stands out

  • Hue rates it for 150+ lights and 50+ accessories
  • brings Hue lights and accessories into Matter, which Matter Survey shows as switches, motion, light and temperature sensors in Home Assistant installs
  • MotionAware turns compatible Hue lights into motion sensors

Reasons to hesitate

  • Matter Survey shows no group control through its Matter side, so Home Assistant addresses each light separately over Matter
  • Hue doesn't list Thread for it, so it isn't a Thread border router
  • moving from an older Hue Bridge is a separate migration, and reviewers on Hue's page report mixed results

Best for

  • large Hue installs that are near the older bridge's limits
  • Home Assistant users who want Hue lights and sensors on Matter alongside other ecosystems

Avoid if

  • you run Hue bulbs on your own Zigbee coordinator and don't use a Hue bridge
  • you were hoping for a Thread border router

Privacy and local-control notes

The bridge talks to Hue lights over Zigbee and exposes them to Home Assistant over Matter on your local network. Out-of-home control through the Hue app goes through Hue's servers.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: matter.

  • Philips Hue US product page ($149.99, in stock; supports 150+ lights, 50+ accessories; communication protocol Bluetooth, Zigbee; FAQ: can connect via Wi-Fi, Ethernet recommended, Ethernet cable provided; Matter functionality via Hue Bridge; compatible with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings; MotionAware; 5 V DC 1 A adapter included; Thread not mentioned; migration instructions and mixed reviewer reports) · checked Nov 6, 2026
  • Matter Survey (seen 1,327 times; Ethernet network commissioning; Aggregator with Generic Switch, Temperature, Light and Occupancy Sensor endpoints; no Binding; group control not available; certificate CSA25038SWC60221-M2) · checked Nov 6, 2026
  • Home Assistant Philips Hue integration (core Hue integration is Local Push but the docs don't name the Bridge Pro, so the rating rests on Matter alone (good, not excellent)) · checked Nov 6, 2026
