IKEA DIRIGERA smart home hub, a round white hub with a cable

Quick verdict

DIRIGERA is IKEA's hub: a Matter bridge for products in the IKEA Home smart system, a Matter controller, and an example Thread Border Router per IKEA. It earns its place if you already own IKEA smart gear you want in Home Assistant; for new Matter over Thread devices alone, Home Assistant's own border router does the job. I haven't run this one; the notes come from IKEA's US product page, the CSA listing and Matter Survey data.

Standout: Bridges IKEA's smart home range into Home Assistant over Matter, by Ethernet.

Local control facts

Why it stands out

  • Matter bridge that brings products in the IKEA Home smart system into Home Assistant over Matter
  • also a Matter controller, and IKEA names it as an example Thread Border Router for its Matter over Thread products
  • connects to your router by Ethernet cable, which Matter Survey also shows as its network interface

Reasons to hesitate

  • setup goes through the IKEA Home smart app
  • Alexa, Apple Home and Google Home links run through integrations in the IKEA Home smart app

Best for

  • bringing an existing set of IKEA smart products into Home Assistant without re-pairing each one
  • IKEA-heavy homes that want IKEA's app alongside Home Assistant

Avoid if

  • you only own new IKEA Matter over Thread devices and already have a Thread border router
  • you don't want a vendor app involved in setup

Privacy and local-control notes

Setup runs through the IKEA Home smart app. Once the hub is shared to Home Assistant as a Matter bridge, control of the bridged IKEA products runs over your local network.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: matter.
