Eve Dimmer Switch - Privacy-first Thread in-wall dimmer switch with smooth local dimming via Matter

Quick verdict

Everything good about the Eve Light Switch, but with dimming. Thread and Matter keep it fully local, Eve's privacy story is solid, and the physical dimming control feels responsive. US/Canada only, and you need dimmable bulbs and a neutral wire. If those boxes are checked, this is one of the cleanest dimmer options for a local-first smart home.

Standout: Privacy-first Thread in-wall dimmer switch with smooth local dimming via Matter.

Local control facts

Why it stands out

  • Thread-native dimmer switch with zero cloud dependency
  • smooth dimming control from both the physical switch and Home Assistant
  • Eve's privacy-first approach means no account, no cloud, no tracking

Reasons to hesitate

  • US and Canada only, incompatible with European wiring standards
  • requires neutral wire and compatible dimmable bulbs
  • premium pricing compared to basic Wi-Fi dimmers

Best for

  • US/Canadian homes that want local-first dimming without cloud dependency
  • Apple Home and Home Assistant users building a Thread-based lighting setup

Avoid if

  • you are outside the US/Canada
  • your bulbs are not dimmable, so check compatibility first

Privacy and local-control notes

Fully local via Matter over Thread. No cloud account or data collection. Same strong privacy story as all Eve products.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: matter.
