Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro

Quick verdict

The Z-Stick 10 Pro is the one dual-radio stick worth taking seriously: a Z-Wave 800 Long Range radio and a Zigbee 3.0 radio in one USB-A body that shows up as two serial ports. Z-Wave JS takes one, ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT takes the other, and owners report both running together. The catch is that it behaves like two products in one shell. Aeotec's own guide says so, and the Zigbee side has needed a manual firmware update to 7.4.3 before Zigbee2MQTT's ember driver would talk to it. If you are happy doing that once, it saves a USB port and about the cost of a second coordinator. I haven't run this one; the notes come from the spec sheet, the Home Assistant integration docs and what other owners report.

Reasons to hesitate

• the two radios are, in Aeotec's words, two products rolled into one: separate configuration, separate factory resets, and you have to work out which port is Zigbee (if00) and which is Z-Wave (if01)
• early units ship with Zigbee firmware too old for Zigbee2MQTT's ember driver; owners had to flash 7.4.3 with Tera Term on Windows before Zigbee2MQTT would start
• the Zigbee side is an EFR32MG21, an older and smaller chip than the MG24 in current dedicated coordinators
• both radios sit in one small enclosure next to the host, so Zigbee and Z-Wave placement cannot be optimised separately

Best for

• Home Assistant users who want Zigbee and Z-Wave from a single stick on a mini PC or Raspberry Pi
• small to mid-size homes where one placement point suits both meshes
• people comfortable with by-id serial paths and a one-time firmware flash

Avoid if

• you want a plug-and-play coordinator with no firmware or port work
• you want a network-attached (PoE) coordinator you can place away from the server
• you already have a Zigbee coordinator you are happy with and only need Z-Wave
