UniFi U7 Pro - A ceiling-mount Wi-Fi 7 access point with 6GHz support

Quick verdict

The UniFi U7 Pro is a ceiling-mount Wi-Fi 7 access point with 6GHz support. In Home Assistant this surfaces through the local UniFi Network integration as a monitored network device plus client device_tracker entities for presence detection. It is not monitoring-only either: the same integration exposes switches for WLANs, port forwarding, traffic rules, zone-based firewall policies and PoE ports, so Home Assistant can act on the network rather than just watch it.

Local control facts

  • Home Assistant: unifi integration, Local Push, Silver on the quality scale (home-assistant.io, checked Sep 10, 2026)

Why it stands out

  • Wi-Fi 7 tri-band AP with 6GHz (6 spatial streams, 2x2 per band), high throughput and capacity
  • Needs PoE+ (802.3at); ~21W under load
  • In Home Assistant the local UniFi Network integration turns every connected client into a device_tracker - excellent for room/home presence

Reasons to hesitate

  • Wi-Fi design work (new SSIDs, channels, RF profiles) still happens in the UniFi controller rather than in Home Assistant
  • Requires a UniFi OS controller (UDM/Cloud Key) and PoE for power and the HA integration

Best for

  • UniFi households that want accurate, local Wi-Fi presence detection in Home Assistant
  • Adding coverage while keeping device tracking on the LAN

Avoid if

  • You do not run a UniFi controller
  • You cannot supply PoE and do not want to add a PoE switch or injector

Privacy and local-control notes

The UniFi Network integration talks to your local UniFi OS controller over the LAN using a local-only account (Ubiquiti SSO cloud login is not supported). Device and client data, including presence detection, stays on your network.

Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: UniFi Network (local push over websocket from the UniFi OS controller; local user required).
