Quick verdict
The Tapo P125M is TP-Link's compact Matter plug over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, rated 15 A, with no energy monitoring. Home Assistant can add it through Matter, and the core TP-Link integration also lists it. I haven't run this one; the notes come from TP-Link's spec sheet, the CSA listing and Matter Survey data.
Standout: A small Matter-certified Wi-Fi plug rated 15 A that sits in one outlet without blocking the other.

Local control facts
Home Assistant: matter integration, Local Push (home-assistant.io, checked Nov 7, 2026)
Matter: certified (csa-iot.org, checked Nov 6, 2026)
Matter certified over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so no hub or Thread border router is needed
rated 15 A / 1800 W at 120 V, enough for kettles, coffee makers and toasters per TP-Link
compact body that TP-Link says is smaller than its P100 and avoids blocking the neighbouring socket
Reasons to hesitate
no energy monitoring; TP-Link's P110M is the metered model
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, so it adds another client to your Wi-Fi network
schedules, Away Mode and remote access live in the Tapo app and its account rather than in Matter
Best for
simple on/off control of lamps and small appliances from Home Assistant without a hub
households mixing Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa that want one plug for all of them
Avoid if
you want power or energy readings in Home Assistant
your Wi-Fi network is already crowded and you would rather add Thread or Zigbee devices
Privacy and local-control notes
Matter over Wi-Fi plug, so on/off commands from Home Assistant stay on your network. Bluetooth is used for setup only. Remote control, schedules, Away Mode and Auto-Off are features of the Tapo app.
Home Assistant support: supported · integration path: matter.
