Owner’s hands-on review ★★★★★

Good enough that I bought 6

I wanted notifications when a device finished a job, or when I’d forgotten to turn something off, so I bought six of these to scatter around the house, plus a couple in an unheated, uninsulated garage in Minnesota. It got down to about -15F here this past winter.

The indoor ones are still going strong in a variety of spots. I run a mix of these and Shelly smart plugs for things like Christmas lights and 3D printer power monitoring, and I used to use one to keep an eye on our gas dryer.

The pair in the garage did not survive the winter, which isn’t really a knock against them. They aren’t rated for anything close to the extreme temperatures we get outdoors here.

At around $15 each they’re a fair deal, and when they drop to about $10 on sale they’re a great one.

One more reason to buy several: mains-powered outlets like these make excellent Zigbee repeaters, so they strengthen your mesh as you add more.

Quick verdict

If you already run a Zigbee coordinator, this is one of the cheapest paths to a fully local smart plug. No cloud, no app account, no hub of its own.

Standout: Cheap local Zigbee plug, no cloud account needed.
