Quick verdict
The Rachio 3 is a capable smart irrigation controller. Its weather intelligence saves water and the app is excellent. The big caveat is full cloud dependency with no local control option. If Rachio's servers go down, you lose smart scheduling. For most homeowners that trade-off is worth it, but local-control purists should look elsewhere.
Standout: Weather Intelligence Plus uses hyper-local weather data to skip watering when it rains and adjust schedules by soil moisture, sun exposure, and plant type.
