Quick verdict
The B-hyve XR is the budget alternative to Rachio. It offers weather-smart scheduling, Alexa and Google support, and a weatherproof design at a lower price point. The trade-offs are a less polished app, community-only Home Assistant integration, and full cloud dependency. If budget matters more than polish, it gets the job done.
Standout: Weatherproof outdoor-rated design with Bluetooth backup control, making it a practical choice for installations where the controller lives outside.
