The Eve Room is the indoor air quality sensor for people who take local control and privacy seriously. Temperature, humidity, and VOC air quality readings all stay on the device and in Apple Home. No cloud account, no data harvesting. The e-ink display is a nice touch for glancing at current readings without opening an app. It costs more than a basic Zigbee temperature sensor, but you are getting air quality monitoring and a company that actually respects your data. Needs a Thread border router to work well.

Privacy and local-control notes
No cloud account required. Eve does not collect or store your data on their servers. All sensor data stays local on the device and within Apple Home. This is about as private as a smart sensor gets.

Buying reality check
Price notes: Costs more than basic temperature sensors, but you are paying for the VOC sensor, e-ink display, and Eve's privacy-first approach. Buying note (checked 2026-08-28): Eve has removed the Eve Room product page from evehome.com and that URL now redirects to Eve's home page, while Amazon US, Best Buy, Newegg and Verizon all show it unavailable, no longer available new, or delisted. Eve has published no discontinuation notice, so this is not a formal end-of-life, but there is no dependable way to buy one new today - it is realistically a device for people who already own one. Re-verified 2026-09-14: evehome.com/en-us/eve-room still serves Eve's home page, and Eve Room appears in neither Eve's product navigation nor its Matter lineup page.
