For a Home Assistant house the Assure Lock 2 with the Z-Wave module is the pick: Z-Wave JS gives fully local control, and the Bluetooth radio works locally too through the Yale Access Bluetooth integration.

The 2 Plus is the one for Apple households that want Home Key, and it's HomeKit over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, not Thread or Matter.

Double-check the exact variant before ordering; Yale's naming makes it easy to buy the wrong one, and the Matter module Yale announced for the Assure Lock 2 never went on sale.
